Six cities, three nations, one shared soul: Mediterranean red coral
On December 19 at 5:30 PM, the Biblioteca Fardelliana in Trapani will host a landmark event for the coral sector: the creation of the first Mediterranean Network of Coral Cities.
During the international round table “Coral Routes – Dialogue among Mediterranean Cultures”, master coral artisans and institutional representatives from Trapani, Sciacca, Torre del Greco, Alghero, Tunisia and Andalusia will share knowledge, traditions and future perspectives linked to coral craftsmanship. The event will also be streamed online.
Assocoral will be among the key participants. Its President, Vincenzo Aucella, will take part as a speaker, presenting the case of Torre del Greco, the world capital of coral and cameo craftsmanship. His contribution will focus on the strength of the local sector and on the broader ecosystem surrounding it: from the complete production chain to education, from the safeguarding of intangible heritage to technological innovation.
Highlighting the institutional relevance of the initiative, the Mayor of Torre del Greco, lawyer Luigi Mennella, will also be attending, confirming the strong connection between local authorities, the territory and a tradition recognized worldwide.
The central moment of the event will be the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, officially establishing the Mediterranean Network of Coral Cities and launching a shared path of cultural cooperation, promotion and protection.
A new bridge between peoples, generations and Mediterranean identities, united by coral.
