The workshop “Da scarto a segno” (From Waste to Sign), promoted by the Design School of Politecnico di Milano in collaboration with Assocoral, has come to an end.
This edition focused on contemporary jewelry design with particular attention to sustainability and to the creative reuse of coral scraps provided by several associated companies.
Throughout the workshop, students explored the material, its history and its technical characteristics, developing design proposals capable of giving new meaning and value to coral fragments through innovative creative approaches.
Fiammetta De Simone attended on behalf of Assocoral, reviewing each project and highlighting their qualities, potential and distinctive insights.
Although the final works cannot be shown publicly, the overall outcome has been highly positive. The project confirmed the importance of a real dialogue between academia and craftsmanship, two different worlds that enrich each other and generate new perspectives.
Assocoral extends its thanks to Alba Cappellieri, to professors Federica Fabiano and Susanna Testa, and to all students involved in the initiative.
